Join us on Saturday March 26, 2011 for Amnesty International's Yoga Day

Mark your calendars for Saturday 26 March, 2011!

Thank you to all those who supported Amnesty International's human rights work by pulling out a mat in March and April 2010.

Our next Yoga Day will be March 26, 2011.

We would also like to thank all the hundreds of supporters who sent back their words of encouragement on maple leaves to El Salvadoran environmental activists. All your messages of solidarity now hang off our solidarity tree [see pictured right], and will be sent to the community in El Salvador this summer.

support environmental activists at risk

This year, Amnesty International’s Yoga Day will be shining the spotlight on human rights and environmental defenders in province of Cabañas, El Salvador.

Cabañas environmental and community activists have been killed and threatened for speaking out against the gold exploration activities of a Canadian company and for defending their right to protect their environment.

As part of its work to protect the individuals in this community and express solidarity with them, Amnesty International is calling on all Yoga Day participants to take action by signing our messages of support on paper maple leaves, which will then be delivered to human rights and environmental groups in Cabañas  later in the spring of 2010.

Take action now. Download a Maple Leaf.
