Summertime is the right time to share your Taste for Justice

Why not mark Canada Day, your birthday or anniversary by hosting a Taste for Justice dinner in honour of the brave human rights activists who speak out to build a safer and more just world for women and girls everywhere?

Gather friends and family for a BBQ, a party, or even a dessert night, and celebrate the courage of women’s human rights defenders while helping raise critical funds for Amnesty International’s human rights work around the world.

10 year-old Maddy (pictured above) shares her Taste for Justice with classmates at an end of school year party. To sign up as a Taste for Justice host, register now.

Thank you to all 2010 Taste for Justice restaurants.

pick a date today to host a Taste for justice event

Year-round:
Host your own Taste for Justice event, no matter how big or small. The occasion could be your birthday, a special anniversary, or a special international day like Human Rights Day. Invite your guests to donate to Amnesty the amount they would spend on a nice night out.

June:
Find a Taste for Justice restaurant near you, and invite as many of your friends and family to go there on the day of their pariticipation. Be sure to thank them for supporting Amnesty International.

Any support you give will help Amnesty International continue its work to research and campaign against violence and discrimination that women face around the world. Thank you for taking the time to make a difference!
take action to protect mothers in burkina faso

Every minute, a woman dies as a result of complications related to pregnancy.

Almost all of these deaths are preventable, and 99% of them occur in developing countries. Often they are due to discrimination, unequal access to quality health services and a lack of services for women who have experienced violence.

In Burkina Faso, a French-speaking country in West Africa, more than 2000 women die from complications during pregnancy and childbirth either because the medical services they have access to are inadequate, or because they cannot afford quality care.

What you can do:
Take action now by writing to the Minister of Health of Burkina Faso, and send words of support on fabric to be used as part of an awareness raising program in Burkina Faso.
